Canadian Medtech Leader Highmark Interactive Hires 10-Year NHL Veteran Chuck Kobasew As Head of Professional Athlete Sales Team, Names John Gardiner Chief Operating Officer

Company Uses Video Games in The Battle Against Concussions and Brain Injuries

TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Highmark Interactive, Canada’s first digital therapeutics company, announced today that it has hired Chuck Kobasew, a former member of the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins, amongst others, to its professional athlete sales team. Kobasew will be Highmark’s Head of Athlete Sales, with a plan to add others to that team in the coming year.

“Chuck is an incredible addition to our team here at Highmark Interactive, and will be a great leader of our Athlete Sales division,” said Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Highmark Interactive. “Throughout his career, he has seen up close and personal the devastating effects concussions can have in the sports world, and will be an advocate for our next-generation testing software.”

Highmark believes current and former professional athletes are a unique and strong addition to the corporate salesforce for their new Equilibrium application given their connections in the sports world, real-world experiences with the injury, and desire to see a change in how concussions are handled in the future.

“I am honored to be joining the team at Highmark,” said Kobasew. “I have a long history of concussions, which weighed heavily in my decision to join the company. I know how hard they are to detect accurately, and what a pain the traditional tests are to take. With the Equilibrium app they have created, I see great potential for much better assessment of the injury, with tests that athletes will actually enjoy taking.  I'm excited to be apart of such a great team and working on an important issue that plagues most sports and prevents so many athletes from doing what they love. I wish our solution would have been available during my career!”

Highmark is also announcing that current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) John Gardiner has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, Gardiner will be responsible for the companies go-to-market strategy, and execution of its long-term vision.

“It’s an honour to be named COO of such a great team here at Highmark Interactive,” said Gardiner. “We’ve made amazing progress in the last year, and I’m looking forward to helping us execute on our vision of creating a new paradigm of concussion testing leveraging our team's fantastic history in building engaging experiences.”

Highmark is on the verge of releasing its concussion testing software, Equilibrium. More details will be announced soon, but in the meantime, please contact us on our website (http://highmark.tech) or email us at contact@highmark.tech for more information.
