Three-time Stanley Cup champion Brent Seabrook will joined Daniel Sedin and Stan Smyl behind the Team White's bench for Wednesday's CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Langley.

Three-time Stanley Cup champion and the pride of Tsawwassen will be behind the bench for Wednesday’s sold-out 2023 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at the Langley Events Centre.

Brent Seabrook has been named as one of the special guest coaches for the game that features the top eligible players for June’s NHL Entry Draft in Nashville, including North Vancouver phenom Connor Bedard, the projected first overall pick.

Joining Seabrook behind the Team White bench are Vancouver Canuck legends Daniel Sedin and Stan Smyl. The Team Red coaching staff will feature Henrik Sedin, Canucks amateur scout and alumni Ron Delorme, along with Vancouver Giants head coach Michael Dyck.

It was just over a year ago when Seabrook made his junior hockey coaching debut as he joined the Giants staff while Dyck was with Team Canada at the U20 World Hockey Championships. The stint went well enough for the now Kelowna resident to be named a skills development coach with the Western Hockey League club.

Seabrook captained the Lethbridge Hurricanes for his final two seasons in the WHL and also participated in the 2003 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

Chosen 14th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Draft, Seabrook helped the franchise capture the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

During 15 seasons, the 37-year-old tallied 103 goals and 361 assists for 464 points, while today he remains third all-time in Blackhawks’ history with 1,114 games played and one of eight skaters to reach more than 1,000 games with the Original Six franchise.

The South Delta Minor Hockey alumni and one-time Delta Ice Hawk has also enjoyed success internationally including gold-medal wins at the 2003 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he was named the tournament’s best defenceman, in addition to the 2005 World Juniors and 2010 Winter Olympics. In 2022, Seabrook returned to B.C. as the Giants’ player development coach.

Since its reintroduction as the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in 1996, the event has featured 15 players who were later selected first overall in the NHL Draft including Alexis Lafreniere (2020), Nico Hischier (2017), Connor McDavid (2015), Aaron Ekblad (2014), Nathan MacKinnon (2013), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011), Taylor Hall (2010), John Tavares (2009), Steven Stamkos (2008), Patrick Kane (2007), Marc-Andre Fleury (2003), Rick Nash (2002), Vincent Lecavalier (1998), Joe Thornton (1997), and Chris Phillips (1996).

The game will be televised on TSN at 7 p.m.
