New York Rangers young gun Filip Chytil will get a chance to represent his country at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, as the NHL club announced they will allow the 18-year-old to play for the Czech Republic.

Chytil has represented his country three times thus far, skating in the 2015 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (where he won gold), and the 2017 IIHF World U18 Championship. The pivot posted nine points through 14 total games over those three tournaments.

The Rangers added Chytil with their first-round pick at the 2017 NHL Draft, selecting the centreman 21st overall.

He’s appeared in two games at the NHL level this season without recording a point. In 15 games with the club’s AHL affiliate in Hartford this season, Chytil posted five goals and 12 points.
